Perched at nearly 1,900 metres in the central highlands, Nuwara Eliya is a world apart from Sri Lanka's tropical coast. Horton Plains & World's End
Just 32 km from Nuwara Eliya, Horton Plains National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage plateau at 2,100 metres. The 9-km circular trail leads to World's End — a sheer 870-metre escarpment with staggering views over the southern lowlands on clear mornings. Baker's Falls, a 20-metre cascade framed by montane forest, lies along the same trail. Start before 7 AM to beat the clouds that typically roll in by mid-morning.
